In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Season with salt and pepper. Drain excess grease.

Return the skillet to the stove, add the taco seasoning and garlic powder to the beef. Stir well to coat the beef.

Add the uncooked rice, beef broth, corn, tomato sauce, and salsa to the skillet. Stir to combine.

Bring the mixture to a boil, then cover, reduce heat to low, and let simmer for 18-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the rice is cooked and tender.

Once the rice is cooked, sprinkle the shredded cheese over the top. Cover and cook until cheese is melted, about 2-3 minutes.
