Pizza Grilled Cheese Sandwich (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Butter Mixture

01 - ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
02 - 1 tablespoon grated parmesan cheese
03 - 1 teaspoon garlic powder
04 - ½ teaspoon dried Italian seasoning

→ Assembly

05 - 8 slices white bread
06 - 12 slices mozzarella cheese
07 - 6 ounces pepperoni
08 - Warm pizza sauce for dipping

# Instructions:

01 - In a medium-sized bowl, mix the butter, parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning until smooth.
02 - Spread the butter mixture evenly over one side of the bread slices. Place the slices butter side up on a sheet tray until ready to use.
03 - Over medium-low heat, place a slice of bread butter side down into a skillet. Add one slice of mozzarella cheese, 6 pepperoni slices, another slice of mozzarella cheese, 6 more pepperoni slices, and a final slice of mozzarella cheese. Place the second slice of bread on top, butter side up.
04 - Place a lid on the skillet to help melt the cheese. Cook for 3-5 minutes until the bottom slice is golden brown. Carefully flip the sandwich. Cover again and cook the other side until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
05 - Serve the sandwiches warm with pizza sauce for dipping and enjoy.

# Notes:

01 - Cook sandwiches in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan, maintaining crispness.
02 - Place finished sandwiches on a wire rack over a sheet tray to prevent them from becoming soggy.
03 - Feel free to swap out the bread or use different types of cheese. Mozzarella complements the pizza theme, but provolone or parmesan are great alternatives.
04 - These sandwiches can be frozen for later—see storage suggestions.
