Overnight Crème Brûlée Toast (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Caramel Base

01 - ½ cup unsalted butter
02 - 1 cup brown sugar
03 - 2 tablespoons light corn syrup

→ Custard Mixture

04 - 5 large eggs
05 - 1 ½ cups half-and-half
06 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
07 - ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
08 - ¼ teaspoon salt

→ Bread and Topping

09 - 1 loaf brioche or challah, cut into thick slices
10 - ¼ cup granulated sugar (for caramelizing)
11 - Optional: Maple syrup, fresh berries, powdered sugar, whipped cream

# Instructions:

01 - Melt butter in a saucepan and mix with brown sugar and corn syrup until smooth. Spread mixture evenly in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
02 - Arrange slices of brioche or challah over the caramel mixture in a single layer.
03 - Whisk together eggs, half-and-half, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt. Pour mixture evenly over the bread slices.
04 - Cover the baking dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 8 hours or overnight.
05 - Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the uncovered dish for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and set.
06 - Sprinkle granulated sugar over the top of the dish. Use a kitchen torch or broiler to caramelize until crisp.
07 - Slice and serve the French toast warm with optional toppings such as maple syrup, fresh berries, powdered sugar, or whipped cream.

# Notes:

01 - Allowing the dish to rest overnight enhances the flavor and ensures the custard is absorbed thoroughly by the bread.
02 - Using a kitchen torch for the topping provides better control over caramelization compared to a broiler.
