Easy Homemade Hamburger Helper (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Main Ingredients

01 - 1 lb lean ground beef (90%)
02 - ½ yellow onion, finely minced (about 1 cup)
03 - 2 garlic cloves, minced
04 - 2 cups hot water
05 - 2 cups milk (any kind)
06 - 2 tablespoons cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water (slurry)
07 - 1 ½ teaspoon salt
08 - ¼ cup tomato paste (about 4 oz)
09 - ½ tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
10 - 1 teaspoon mustard
11 - 12 oz macaroni (about 2 ½ cups)
12 - 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded

# Instructions:

01 - In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef, minced onion, and garlic until the meat is browned, about 6 to 8 minutes.
02 - Stir in the hot water, milk, cornstarch slurry, salt, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, and macaroni.
03 - Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer. Cover and cook for 10 to 12 minutes, stirring every few minutes to prevent the pasta from sticking.
04 - Uncover the skillet and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese. Continue cooking for 1 to 3 minutes, or until the sauce reaches your desired consistency.

# Notes:

01 - If you don't have cornstarch, mix 4 tablespoons of flour with 2 tablespoons of water instead.
