Hot Cheesy Subs (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 1-1.5 cups marinara sauce.
02 - 3 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese.
03 - 2 teaspoons oregano (dried).
04 - 3 hoagie sandwich rolls.
05 - 1/2 pound ground pork.
06 - 12-15 prepped Italian-style meatballs.
07 - 1/4 cup grated Parmesan (fresh).
08 - 1 slice whole wheat bread soaked in milk and squeezed dry.
09 - 1 egg.
10 - 1 tablespoon basil (chopped fresh).
11 - 1/2 tablespoon parsley (minced fresh).
12 - 1-1.5 cups Mozzarella cheese, shredded thick.
13 - 1/4 cup onion, very finely chopped.
14 - 1/2 pound ground beef (85% lean).
15 - 2 cloves of garlic, crushed.
16 - 1/2-1 teaspoon sea salt or kosher salt.
17 - 1/8-1/4 teaspoon black pepper.

# Instructions:

01 - Using a cookie scoop or greased hands, shape the meat into 1-inch balls. Place them on the baking sheet without them touching each other.
02 - Put the tray in the oven and cook the meatballs for 20-22 minutes, making sure they're cooked all the way through.
03 - Inside a bowl, mix the ground beef, ground pork, egg, onion, Parmesan, garlic, herbs, salt, and pepper. Toss in the bread pieces you soaked earlier and squish everything together well.
04 - Set your oven to 350°F, and either grease a baking pan or cover it with parchment paper.
05 - Tear down hoagie rolls lengthwise without going all the way through, and lay them out in a baking dish.
06 - Sprinkle oregano on top, then bake at 350°F for 15-17 minutes until all the cheese oozes and melts. If starting from cold, add another 5 minutes.
07 - On each split roll, spread some marinara, sprinkle Parmesan, then stack 4-5 meatballs inside. Layer more marinara sauce and pile the shredded Mozzarella on top.

# Notes:

01 - Try using fresh deli hoagies if you want the best texture.
02 - Turn these into appetizers by slicing each sandwich into smaller, bite-sized portions.
03 - Double the ingredients to make 6 servings instead.
